Description
The Florida Sixth District Court of Appeal is seeking an experienced legal manager to serve as our Central Staff Director. This pivotal role administratively supervises central staff attorneys and support staff, directing advanced legal research and writing and perfecting workflow policies for a high-volume appellate caseload.
Work Includes:
Recruitment and hiring central staff attorneys and assistants; training new central staff employees; evaluating employee work
Managing central staff cases by distributing workload among attorneys and assistants
Closely supervising and evaluating the work of new central staff attorneys, including reviewing and editing memos and directing further research when necessary
Working closely with the clerk and deputy clerks to address case procedures and processing, as well as jurisdictional screening
Reporting to the court on the status of central staff workload
Assisting in the preparation of orders on a high volume of motions and writs
Requirements
Active Member of The Florida Bar in good standing.
Minimum 6 years of substantive legal practice.
Exemplary legal skills and management ability within a high-volume environment.
Capacity to learn case management systems.
Absolute commitment to executing court business with integrity and confidentiality.
